Welcome

We're glad you're here!

At Learning Curve Educational Therapy, we embrace the concept of a learning curve—the idea that proficiency in a skill or task improves over time with practice and experience. We understand that initial efforts may be challenging, but performance and understanding gradually improve as one continues to learn and practice. This philosophy guides our approach to empowering students with learning differences to reach their full potential. Our specialized educational therapy services provide personalized support and strategies tailored to each student's unique needs, helping them navigate their learning journey. We celebrate every step forward while working together to turn challenges into achievable milestones. We're excited to partner with you to achieve lasting success, turn challenges into triumphs, and pave the way for a brighter future. Together, we can help your child recognize their learning curve and unlock their full potential.

What is Educational Therapy?

An educational therapist is a professional who has earned an advanced degree in an area such as special education, counseling, reading specialist, speech-language pathology, psychology, or general education and has gone on to complete a post-master's level program in educational therapy. They specialize in providing individualized instructional support to students with learning challenges. This may include addressing executive functioning deficits, ADHD, dyslexia, language, visual, and auditory processing issues, and other cognitive or emotional difficulties that impact academic performance. Educational therapists aim to empower students by addressing their unique needs and supporting their overall academic and personal growth. They use a holistic approach that considers the student's cognitive, emotional, and social development to create a comprehensive and effective learning plan.

The Role of an Educational Therapist:

  • Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments to identify a student's strengths, weaknesses, and specific learning needs.

  • Individualized Instruction: Developing and implementing tailored intervention plans that address the student's unique learning profile. This may include strategies to improve reading, writing, math, and other academic skills.

  • Executive Functioning: Teaching skills related to executive functioning, such as organization, time management, and study strategies, to help students become more effective learners.

  • Emotional Support: Providing a supportive environment that fosters confidence, motivation, and a positive attitude toward learning.

  • Case management: Working closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to the student's education. This may involve attending school meetings and advising on IEP accommodations and modifications.

  • Reading and interpreting educational reports: Educational therapists interpret and analyze various educational reports. These reports often contain complex statistical data and specialized terminology, requiring interpretation of their full meaning and implications. These include psychoeducational and neuropsychological reports, SLP assessments, developmental optometrist findings, and IEPs.

  • Advocacy: Helping families navigate the educational system and advocating for the student's needs within school settings.
